On April 24th, the 29th annual Home Builder Awards were held in Toronto, where the industry gathered to celebrate the achievements and highlight the development projects that have had the greatest impact on the GTA.
TAS DesignBuild and Giraffe Condominiums were nominated for 10 awards in interior design, architecture, technology, marketing and green building practises. The company was excited to accept 3 awards on behalf of Giraffe Condominiums (including best logo, presentation centre and model suite) as well as the coveted GREEN BUILDER OF THE YEAR award for their commitment to new technologies, materials and methods into projects helping advance Green Development and reinforcing their dedication to lead the industry through innovation.

We came across this exhibit entitled "Running The Numbers" by American artist Chris Jordan and were amazed at its message as well as the artistic merit of his collection.

The show is proud to announce Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as its keynote speaker. This year's theme continues The Green Living Show’s commitment to enlighten consumers about their environmental footprint, so it seems appropriate that one of the North America's most prominent defenders of the environment would keynote this important event. The show will be held from April 25-27, with Mr. Kennedy's speech scheduled for April 26 at 10:30 a.m. His speech will follow an exclusive brunch with prominent guests including Premier Dalton McGuinty, Councilor Adam Vaughan, and Mayor David Miller hosted by TAS DesignBuild.
We would like to send a big thank you to our home buyers who participated in our Amenity Design Charette. Through our online survey and round table design discussions, aka "The Charette" we had an opportunity to listen to how home buyers at M5V wanted to custom create their amenity space while answering the question "How Do You Live?" Home buyers had the opportunity to gather as a group, meet fellow neighbours and discuss the pros and cons of gyms, hot tubs, entertainment rooms and outdoor BBQ patios (amongst other offerings). We are well underway in fine tuning the design and providing a solution that best reflects the way M5V'ers want to live!

We are excited that our principal, Mazyar Mortazavi was invited to speak at this prestigious event recently held in Vancouver. Mazyar spoke on the topic of Revitalizing Cities from Within and the importance of an over-reaching approach based on TAS DesignBuild's Four Pillars of Sustainability™ that recognizes the necessity to consider social, environmental and economic impacts as the drivers behind sustainable approaches.
Mazyar Mortazavi, principal of TAS DesignBuild, an award-winning Toronto developer of condominiums and townhomes, is so committed to the green movement he has traded in his beloved Range Rover for a hybrid vehicle.
"As a builder, you have to live it, you have to breath it and you have to walk the talk," he says. "Consumer demand is forcing the housing market to change. Traditionally, developers have not been innovators in the housing market. Now, for the first time, there is this shift where they are trying to understand what is going on and introduce change before the consumer asks for it."
"This is going to be the century's major socio-cultural shift," he predicts. "It is a mindset change and the implications go far and wide."
