Running The Numbers - An American Self-Portrait

Depicts 8 million toothpicks, equal to the number of trees harvested in the US every month to make the paper for mail order catalogues.

At TAS DesignBuild we are always interested in promoting various artistic endeavors that are in line with our philosophy of sustainability and educating our consumers. We came across this exhibit entitled "Running The Numbers" by American artist Chris Jordan and were amazed at its message as well as the artistic merit of his collection.

"Running The Numbers looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (5 minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on," Chris writes on his website regarding the exhibit.

We hope you have a moment to flip through the collection and take in some of the staggering statistics.
